IMPORT DUTY.. ways to save it?

hi all.. I reside in india and wana buy a new lcd tv from US. But apart from paying the shipping charges, I have to pay additional 300 USD as import duty which is too much & defies the very purpose of buying it from US. Kindly guide me if i can minimise the spendings on import duty thus levied. i have my relatives residing in US, can they be of any help ??
